Microsoft selling antivirus software

22 03 2006

Microsoft plans to start selling antivirus software called OneCare, to protect Windows… It won’t be included with Vista, the next version of Windows.  Many say it should be, although the anti-trust groups would have an issue with that because Microsoft would be putting other antivirus vendors out of business.  So they’re going to sell it.  But it doesn’t seem quite right that they are going to profit from stopping exploits of their own product.

What I wonder is, what if instead of spending months or years developing an antivirus product, they used all those programmers to make Windows and Office more secure?
