you have not because you ask not

24 03 2008

I recently heard someone say it would be one of the saddest things, if when we stand before God to have our works judged, we find out that the reason we didn’t have or experience some of His promises is because we didn’t ask.  He hasn’t made it complicated — we just have to receive (expect) His promises in faith.

God has offered us joy unspeakable, peace beyond understanding, power (signs, miracles), spiritual gifts, wisdom, blessings, etc., and we just have to receive them.  Of course, all this must be done within the terms of His covenant with us, so we have to be in right-standing with Him.

It doesn’t mean we will lose our salvation if we don’t receive these promises, but why would you not want them?  God intends for us to live in victory.  He wants us to walk in His power.  Why should we settle for less?
